The West Highland Highway is a 176km route roughly tracing the West Highland Railway line from Fort William to Arrochar near Loch Lomond. It takes a high level line requiring 13,500 m of ascent and incorporates 24 Munros and several other hills. The route was first completed in May 2022 over a period of 6 days including train travel to and from my home in the Lake District. I slept in my tent on all but one of the nights, but I've divided the route into 6 sections as below. This allows the route to be completed using bothies, hostels and bunkhouses, although a tent gives far more flexibility and is to be recommended as accommodations is extremely limited.
A description and details of each day can be viewed by following the links below. The route is also available on OSMaps.
